It will be a story about "18th century bookselling and spies" – that is, about seventeen-year-old Mina Rennie and her father in Paris in 1744, during the lead-up to the Jacobite rebellion. It will also tell the story of Hal Grey and his first wife, Esmé, and his later courtship with Minnie.

  • Working titles for the novella include "Patterns of Survival" and simply "Survival".
