Dragonfly in AmberEdit

In 1948, Reverend Reginald Wakefield helped Frank Randall research into the histories of Jonathan Randall and James Fraser to try and determine if Claire was telling the truth about where she'd been. He discovered that Jonathan Randall was buried at St. Kilda.

After Frank discovered that Jamie had survived the Battle of Culloden, not wanting to lose Claire and afraid of what she would do if she heard that Jamie lived, he chose not to tell her about it. He ordered a gravestone to be placed in the kirkyard of St. Kilda with Jamie's name on it, thinking that Brianna would see it if she ever came there and possibly ask Claire about it. This was as far as he was willing to go; he felt that Bree deserved and had the right to learn about her true heritage.

In 1968, Roger Wakefield takes Brianna and Claire to St. Kilda. He brings them to the church there, which has become a little run down since the Reverend died. Roger and Bree amuse themselves with some of the more colorful inscriptions on the gravestones, while Claire wanders about looking for plants. Brianna finds the gravestone for Jonathan Randall and waves Claire over. Brianna thought she'd be excited to see the stone, but instead Claire is shocked and angered by the sight of it. Claire insists they go see the inside of the church while she sits in the shade.

Inside the church, Roger and Brianna kiss for the first time and then hear a scream from outside. They rush outside to find Claire kneeling on the ground in front of a gravestone. The stone is inscribed with Jamie's full name with the words "Beloved husband of Claire." Claire tells them that he was her husband and Brianna's father.
